Background
Education and Honors
In 1980, I graduated from the University of Chicago Law School with honors where I also served on the Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. I also have a B.A. from Georgetown University in Economics. Following law school, I clerked for the Honorable Richard D. Cudahy of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. In 1989, the American Bar Association selected me as one of 20 lawyers whose work stood out. I have an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell and was recently selected by my peers for the 2012 Illinois Super Lawyers list in the environmental field.

Employment /Court and Bar Memberships
In 1981, I joined Jenner & Block, a large full service law firm in Chicago. After beginning in general litigation, I began to specialize in environmental law and was a founding member of Jenner's Environmental Department. During my work at Jenner, I tried numerous cases to judgment before juries, judges and arbitrators and also have argued over a dozen cases on appeal in various state and federal courts. My practice also included extensive work on large corporate transactions and with regulatory counseling. I became a partner at Jenner in 1987 and worked there until 2002 when I established my own firm.

I am admitted to practice in Illinois, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Tenth and Eleventh Circuits and various District Courts. I am a member of the Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations and have been the editor of the Illinois Bar Association's Environmental Newsletter for over 10 years.
